In addition to adjusting the wound border (see here), you can define various types of wound regions to further refine measurement.
- Image wound as normal; identify skin and wound surfaces to automatically generate wound border. Make border adjustment as necessary.
- Click '+' in lower right to define different regions to further refine measurement. Options include:
- Inclusion: the defined region is ADDED to total measurement
- Exclusion: the defined region is DEDUCTED from total measurement
- Area of interest: the defined region is saved, but does NOT AFFECT total measurement
- Similar to normal measurement, identify skin and wound surfaces to automatically generate wound border. Make border adjustment as necessary.
- Repeat the above two steps as necessary.
- When done, click 'Measure' at upper-right corner.
N.B. Different region types are indicated by unique border colors: green, red, and blue, to correspond with Inclusion, Exclusion, and Area of Interest, respectively. This same color code applies within the gallery view as well.
Measurement metrics are summarized for each region, as well as the combined total. Swipe left/right within image gallery to scroll through all wound regions.
The last tab summarizes the combined total measurements from all wound tracings. Depending on region type being inclusion or exclusion, the total measurements are calculated as follows:
- Length/Width: not calculated
- Total Area = [sum of "inclusion" area] - [sum of "exclusion" area]
- Max Depth: max depth of all sub-measurements
- Average Depth: average depth of all sub-measurements
- Volume: sum of all sub-measurement volume
- Color composition = weighted average of red/yellow/black in ["inclusion" regions - "exclusion" regions]
Please Note:
- Depth/Volume not affected by "exclusion" regions because tissue loss remains even if the exposed surface is technically not a wound (eg. exposed tendon, bone, etc)
- "area of interest" does not affect total measurement.
