Automatic segmentation is the default option whereby wound metrics are calculated with minimal user interaction.
Circle the wound and surrounding skin using your finger. A thick green line will appear where you circle. It is only necessary to circle ¾ of the wound border.
Next, mark the wound using another finger swipe anywhere within the wound. This swipe is indicated with a thick red line. The system will automatically outline the border of the detected wound (indicated with thin green line).
Verify that wound segmentation is accurate. If needed, you can draw additional red and green lines to adjust the wound area. For example, to exclude the necrotic region (top-right) from wound computation, click the 'Reduce' button and provide a swipe to designate the area to remove.
Similarly, the 'Expand' option can be used to include additional areas within the wound computation. After each swipe, the system will indicate the segmented wound with a thin green line. The user must verify the segmentation is accurate. The 'Expand' and 'Reduce' buttons can be used iteratively till an accurate wound segmentation is achieved.
The user may hit the “reset” button to erase all marks on the wound. This will enable the user to eliminate marking errors and better outline the wound, enabling the inSight™ technology to generate an accurate wound border.
Once you are satisfied, click the 'Measure' button (top-right) to continue.
