- To add a new patient, begin by tapping the “New Patient” icon in the top right corner of the Patient Summary view.
- Fill out the “Add New Patient” form that opens. Ensure that all information is accurate and save. Patient MRNs must be unique, however, if a patient is deleted their MRN can be reused.
- After filling the form, press the “Create Record” button at the bottom of the screen.
- A prompt will appear, asking if you would like to obtain patient consent for photo use. Select “Yes” to continue. If you select no, the patient record will still be created. Note that in order to use eKare to measure a patient’s wounds, you must have their photo consent.
- Read the consent statements to the patient, then tap the signature box at the bottom of the form to capture their signature. By default, all values on the consent form are filled “Yes.” Simply tap them if the patient declines.
- Once the patient has signed the form, tap the check, and hit the “Obtain Consent” button to close this form. If the patient is a minor, or is incapacitated, a parent or legal representative must sign for the patient.
- Your patient is now added to the Patient Directory. Note that if a patient withdrew consent for photo use, a red X will appear in place of the green check in the patient menu.
