Independent Review of Wound Closure

The Clinical Research arm of eKare inSight® facilitates independent review of wound images for closure. Users assigned the role of ‘Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure’ can login and document their assessment of wound closure while being blinded to assessments made by other independent reviewers. Account Administrators can export reports detailing the independent reviewers’ assessments to review for concordance.

Add new user as Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure

Account Administrators will register independent reviewers by creating a user with the Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure role. This role is view-only except for the wound closure assessment. To create a new user for an independent reviewer:

• Login to the eKare portal with an Account Administrator or Account User role.
• Navigate to ‘User Management’.
• Select ‘Add User’ and complete the required fields. Select ‘Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure’ as the user role from the dropdown list, then select ‘Save’.

After ‘Save’ is selected, the user receives an email generated automatically from the system requesting that they create a password. Once this is complete, the independent reviewer has access to the system.

Independent Review of Images

Independent reviewers will receive notification from their study team when images are ready for review.

To complete an independent assessment:

• Login to the eKare portal with an ‘Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure’ user role.
• Select the image and navigate to Gallery View by selecting the thumbnail of the image from the subject dashboard.
• Select the 3-dots menu in the upper right corner of the screen, then select ‘Independent Review’.

Answer the two default questions regarding wound closure with ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

Add any additional comments using the free-text comments field, then select ‘Save’.

Reviewing and Editing Assessments as the Independent Reviewer

Independent Reviewers can review and edit their own assessments, when needed.

• Login to the eKare portal with an ‘Independent Reviewer: Wound Closure’ user role.
• Select image and navigate to Gallery View by selecting the thumbnail of the image from the subject dashboard.
• Select the 3-dots menu in the upper right corner of the screen, then select ‘My Review’

Review the assessment provided previously. If nothing needs to be changed, the user selects ‘Close’ and logs out.

To update the fields, the user selects ‘Edit’, makes any needed changes, then selects ‘Save’.

Reviewing Data for Independent Review: Wound Closure

Account Administrators and Account Users facilitate the review process for independent review by exporting a summary of independent assessments and reviewing for completion and concordance with other reviewers.

Export Independent Review Assessments

To review Independent Review Assessments for multiple patients displayed in a spreadsheet:

• Login to the eKare portal as an Account Administrator or Account User.
• Select ‘Report’ from the navigation tree on the left of the screen, then ‘Export data csv’.
• Select the site(s) or subject(s) to be included in the report (depends whether a site was selected first).
• Select the date range.
• Select ‘Independent Reviews’ as the data type, then select ‘Export’.

The independent reviews appear on the right end of the .CSV export showing each reviewers’ assessments, free text comments, and the date of the review.

To review Independent Review Assessments for a single patient displayed in a subject report (pdf):

• Login to the eKare portal as an Account Administrator or Account User.
• Navigate to the site, subject and wound ID where the image is located.
• From the subject’s dashboard, select ‘Generate Report’, then ‘Progress Note’.

• Select the wound(s) to be included in the report.
• Set the date range for the report.
• Set ‘Independent Assessment’ to ‘Yes’ and the rest of the options to ‘No’.
• Select ‘Generate’ to download the report.
